Arcillian soil with sandy layers, very compact in the upper part of the plot.
A short and warm winter with a lot of rainfall followed by a cold spring delayed the cycle of vegetation notably. There was hail on the 20th of May. The end of the summer was very hot. The frost on September 28th delayed again the maturity of the grapes.
The grapes have been selected exclusively in the vineyard "Valdepalacios" (1 ha), a plot with more than 75 years old bush vines, sloping down to southeast.
Hand picked on the 17th of October. The grapes were de-stemmed and they fermented using only the yeasts of the grapes; total maceration period: 15 days. The malolactic fermentation ran in new barrels of French oak.
