The first Portuguese estate in the Antalva portfolio is a 21 hectare traditional family estate located in the North of Portugal, in the town of Vacalar. The house and cellar facilities are located in the top of a hill, overseeing the dramatic landscape of the Douro Valley. The property combines 15 hectares of newly terraced vineyards planted with the traditional Douro grapes: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cao, Tinta Amarela and Sousao for the reds, and Fernao Pires, Malvasia Fina, Gouveio, Cerceal, Rabigato, Códega and Códega de Larinho for the whites. They also own 4 hectares of an old field blend planted around 80 years ago with old native varieties that provide wonderful complexity of flavour and aroma to the wines of the Quinta.
This family project aims to put together the ancient winemaking techniques from the Douro (especially the use of stone lagares to crush the grapes) with the adequate adaptation to modern times. Quinta de Ramozeiros is an extremely diverse eco-system, managed sustainably and producing not only grapes, but also olives, figs, peaches, pears...
